Being alone isn't bad.
Being lonely isn't bad.
Being alone and lonely isn't bad.
The gut-wrenching fear that you'll be alone & lonely forever is dreadful.
This is where I am as I approach 40.

I understand completely. I will be 40 in less than 2 years. As I watch my daughter(who is 18) get into her own life, I pause at being alone. I will enjoy it because I did not have the freedom of living a single childless life in my eary adult years. I will miss her though and yet feel glad to have my "me-time".
It is hard. I am just glad I am not in a miserable relationship/situation, that feels worse.
A wise man once said it is better to be alone & want to be w/ someone, than to be w/ someone & want to be alone.
